Collective statements from the Founders of PSHEbrighton
Concerning Politics
PSHEbrighton founders and supporters are a cross party collective. We represent those associated with all of the main political parties active in Brighton (Labour, Conservative and Green Parties), those who identify as political Independents and others from Parties not represented in our local democratic institutions such as the Women’s Equality Party. We also have supporters who do not associate with any organised political movement. As the country prepares for the General Election in 2024 and council by-elections in Brighton, PSHEbrighton will not be endorsing or supporting any individual candidate. We will be vocal in holding to account all candidates about their position in relation to safeguarding of children in our schools and colleges.
Concerning Religion
PSHEbrighton recognizes the importance of respecting and acknowledging the diverse religious affiliations of children in schools and colleges. They believe in providing a safe and inclusive learning environment where children can reflect on their own beliefs, whether religious or otherwise, and develop a respectful understanding of different perspectives on life. PSHEbrighton aims to engage and involve young people from various faith backgrounds through the support of youth workers and community leaders, promoting dialogue and fostering mutual respect among students of different religious affiliations.
Concerning a Public Inquiry
PSHEbrighton advocates for a mandatory public inquiry into the implementation of gender ideology in schools and its impact on expediting the transition of certain children (often with co-morbidities) from the classroom to medical intervention. Until this inquiry is completed, dismissing valid parental concerns as unfounded accusations is a failure in ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
